This article examines Affective Interior Design as an approach to understanding contemporary dwelling, considering the domestic environment as a place of memory, belonging, and meaning-making. Drawing on references from the phenomenology of space, place studies, and contemporary discussions on environmental experience, the study seeks to understand how the materiality of built environments participates in the construction of human experience. Methodologically, this is a qualitative, theoretical-reflective study developed through a bibliographic review and documentary analysis, guided by a hermeneutic interpretative approach. The discussion highlights that the experience of dwelling emerges from the articulation of memory, identity, perception, and materiality, moving beyond perspectives centered exclusively on the functional aspects of space. The findings indicate that Affective Interior Design expands the traditional scope of design practice by incorporating dimensions related to lived experience, the construction of bonds, and the production of meaning. It is concluded that this approach contributes to understanding the domestic environment as an active component in processes of recognition, belonging, and the constitution of human experience.
