A IMPORTÂNCIA DA ATUAÇÃO DO CIRURGIÃO DENTISTA NAS UNIDADES DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA (UTI) NA MANUTENÇÃO DA SAÚDE BUCAL

Muitos pacientes em estado crítico podem apresentar condições bucais inadequadas desde o momento em foram admitidos no hospital, como também desenvolver algum problema durante o período de internação. Tal fato, pode comprometer seu quadro sistêmico, o que vem impactar no tempo de permanência no leito, aumentando os custos hospitalares. O cirurgião-dentista atua junto à UTI para diagnosticar doenças bucais e seus respectivos tratamentos, além de contribuir nos diagnósticos sistêmicos e na redução de infecções. O estudo é uma pesquisa bibliográfica qualitativa que possui como objetivos identificar, através de uma revisão bibliográfica, a importância da atuação do cirurgião-dentista para a manutenção da saúde bucal de pacientes que se encontram hospitalizados em uma UTI. A atuação de um cirurgião-dentista junto à equipe interprofissional é de suma importância para a manutenção da saúde bucal daqueles pacientes que se encontram em estado crítico.
