IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 5S METHODOLOGY IN A FURNITURE COMPANY IN THE LINHARES/ES FURNITURE POLO: A CASE STUDY

This article addressed the implementation of the 5S methodology at Móveis Peroba, a company located in the city of Linhares, in the state of Espírito Santo. The 5S methodology is a Japanese management tool widely recognized for its ability to promote organization, cleanliness, and standardization in work environments. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impacts of this application in the company, analyzing the implementation process, the results obtained, and the main challenges faced. To achieve this objective, a literature review and qualitative research were conducted with 20 employees directly involved in the application process of the methodology, using structured questionnaires as the data collection instrument. The results indicated a positive reception by the employees towards the proposal of implementing the 5S methodology, although some concerns and challenges were identified. However, the analysis pointed to the potential of the 5S methodology to promote significant improvements in the organization of the work environment, operational efficiency, and the quality of the products manufactured by Móveis Peroba.
