ERGONOMICS AND WELL-BEING IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS: An Integrative Review

This study aimed to analyze the importance of ergonomics in higher education institutions, focusing on the main ergonomic issues affecting students, faculty members, and institutional environments. This is an integrative literature review conducted through searches in Google Scholar and the CAPES Journal Portal. Studies published between 2015 and 2024 addressing ergonomics in the academic context were selected. The results indicate a predominance of physical ergonomics issues, such as inadequate posture, non-adjusted furniture, and unfavorable environmental conditions, as well as cognitive and organizational aspects, including workload and mental demands. It is concluded that ergonomics is a relevant element for promoting more adequate working and learning conditions, requiring integrated approaches that consider its different dimensions.
