Objective: To map and describe studies conducted in the field of Nursing that used the FACES Scale (Versions I to IV) as an instrument for assessing family functioning, as well as to synthesize the contributions reported to clinical reasoning and to interventions directed at families in nursing practice contexts. Methods: Scoping Review protocol that will follow the methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). Review question: What evidence is available from Nursing studies that applied the FACES Scale (Versions I to IV) in different families and distinct professional practice contexts? Studies based on the PCC mnemonic (Population, Concept, Context) will be considered. The search strategy comprises three stages, including scientific databases (MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL/EBSCO, SCOPUS, LILACS/BVS) and grey literature (RCAAP), with only studies published in Portuguese, English and Spanish being eligible. Study selection will be performed by two independent reviewers using the Rayyan platform, following the PRISMA-ScR flowchart. Data extraction will be carried out using instruments developed by the researchers. The results will be presented narratively and in systematic tables. Partial considerations: This review is expected to identify how, in which contexts and for what purposes the FACES Scale has been applied in Nursing practice and research, as well as the contributions described for clinical reasoning and for the selection of specific Family Health Nursing interventions, thereby contributing to the quality of care provided to families.
