a educação ambiental como agente de mudança

O descarte inadequado de medicamentos em pias, vasos sanitários ou no lixo doméstico aumentou proporcionalmente ao seu consumo, inerente a esta condição, existe a falta de informação sobre onde descartar corretamente este tipo de resíduo. A educação ambiental é um instrumento que viabiliza o acesso à informação e a consciência ambiental do indivíduo e da sociedade. O objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar a percepção dos moradores de Nova Palmeira-PB quanto ao descarte inadequado de medicamentos em desuso e os impactos negativos que essas ações causam ao meio ambiente e a saúde pública, bem como, identificar onde este tipo de resíduo é descartado e sugerir um ponto de coleta para ele. A metodologia utilizada é de caráter quali-quantitativo, avaliando-se a percepção dos participantes através de instrumentos neutros, como formulários. Os resultados obtidos confirmaram a conduta de descarte inadequado de medicamentos em lugares impróprios pela população, bem como, a falta de conhecimento sobre meios de descarte correto destes resíduos, pois, não existe nenhuma ação atuante de educação ambiental que atinja e conscientize a população do município a este respeito, logo, a realização de campanhas educativas e a implantação de um ponto de coleta seria uma importante ação de educação ambiental.
