Estrutura metálica é um tipo de sustentação usada na construção civil composta por perfis metálicos, principalmente aço. Ela pode ser aplicada em diversos tipos de projetos como casas, pavilhões, supermercados, shoppings, centros de distribuição, entre outros e a sua principal vantagem a rapidez. Esse sistema construtivo é industrializado, ou seja: todas as peças são produzidas em fábrica e chegam no canteiro de obra prontas para montagem. Essa característica fazendo com que a obra de estrutura metálica não permita muitas improvisações, por isso o arquiteto deve criar plantas extremamente detalhadas. Também é necessário criar um projeto de estrutura, de proteção contra incêndios, além dos projetos complementares comuns em toda obra.
