This course completion work will address the increased use of antidepressants and anxiolytics after the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts. The research investigates the reasons behind the significant growth in the prescription of these medications, examining factors such as stress, anxiety, and uncertainty generated by the pandemic context. Furthermore, the social, economic, and public health effects resulting from this trend will be analyzed. Through a comprehensive review of literature and epidemiological data, the study will highlight the importance of understanding patterns of use of these drugs and their long-term effects on the mental health of the population. Finally, practical implications and recommendations for mental health policies in the post-pandemic context will be discussed.
