HUMANIZED ASSISTANCE IN PALLIATIVE CARE

This course conclusion work addresses the importance of humanized assistance in palliative care, exploring how humanizing practice is essential to provide quality of life and comfort to patients in advanced stages of incurable diseases. Humanization in this care seeks to meet the emotional, psychological and social needs of patients, respecting their dignity and individuality, while also welcoming families facing the end-of-life process. The methodology used is based on a bibliographical review, with research carried out in specialized databases, such as SciELO and PubMed, and other renowned academic sources. Articles and studies were selected that address the relevance of empathy and respect in palliative care, also considering the integration of multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support to patients. Analysis of the data obtained reveals that humanized assistance in palliative care reduces suffering, improves patients' experience and contributes to a more welcoming relationship between health professionals and family members. It is concluded that humanized practices in palliative care must be encouraged and improved, not only for the direct benefit to patients, but also as part of an ethical commitment in the health area.
