NURSING CARE FOR INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING PALLIATIVE CARE IN A HOME SETTING

Introduction: Palliative care is an care approach aimed at promoting the comfort, well-being, and quality of life of people living with serious, progressive, or potentially life-threatening illnesses. Objective: To identify nursing care in palliative care in a home care context. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review conducted in the LILACS, SciELO, and Capes Periodicals Portal databases, considering articles published from 2016 to 2026, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The Health Science Descriptors "Nursing Care in Palliative Care" and "Home Care" were used, combined with the Boolean operators "AND" and "OR". Results and discussion: The initial search identified 279 articles, of which 14 comprised the final sample. The studies indicate that the nurse's role in the home setting transcends the control of physical symptoms, encompassing emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of the patient and their family. It was also found that this professional integrates technical competencies, therapeutic communication, and psychosocial support, broadening the traditional scope of care practice. Scientific contributions: The study highlights possible fields of practice for nurses, directing their conduct beyond technical aspects, as well as informing the population about the feasibility of home palliative care with qualified professionals. Conclusion: Nursing care in home palliative care proves to be fundamental for ensuring comprehensive care; however, it depends on structural and educational improvements.
