NURSING CARE FOR INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING PALLIATIVE CARE IN A HOME SETTING

Introduction: Palliative care is an assistential approach aimed at promoting comfort, well-being, and quality of life for people living with serious, progressive, or life-threatening illnesses. Objective: to identify nursing care in palliative care within a home context. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, which used the LILACS, SciELO, and Capes Journals Portal databases, considering articles published from 2016 to 2026, in Portuguese and English, using the Health Sciences Descriptors "Home Nursing Care" and "Palliative Care," with the Boolean operators "AND" and "OR." Results and discussion: A total of 279 articles were found in the database search chain, of which 14 were selected to compose the study sample. The studies show that the nurse's role in the home setting goes beyond the control of physical symptoms, encompassing the emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of both the patient and their family. They further demonstrate that nurses integrate technical competencies, therapeutic communication, and psychosocial support, broadening the traditional scope of care practice and contributing to a more humanized and comprehensive form of assistance. Scientific contributions: This work brings contributions to the profession, as it demonstrates possible fields of practice for nurses, guiding their conduct and expanding care beyond the technical dimension, as well as contributions to society, by informing the population about the possibility of receiving palliative care at home with professionals qualified in care, guidance, and case management. Conclusion: This work presents the importance of nursing care in home palliative care.
