Este trabalho aborda a atuação do psicólogo no que tange à violência nas escolas, enfatizando estratégias de prevenção ao bullying como essencial na saúde mental e desenvolvimento dos alunos, na identificação dos fatores de risco e proteção, bem como possibilidades de intervenções que promovam o bem-estar emocional e social dos envolvidos na comunidade escolar. O objetivo central da pesquisa, é apresentar as principais contribuições da psicologia escolar para prevenção do bullying. Quanto à metodologia utilizada, optou-se pela pesquisa bibliográfica, classificada como descritiva quanto aos fins e de abordagem qualitativa. O estudo da história do bullying no Brasil, demonstrou que esse fenômeno ganhou visibilidade, inicialmente como uma preocupação social e, posteriormente, como um problema de saúde pública. A contribuição da psicologia escolar na prevenção ao bullying revela-se fundamental, pois aborda o problema de forma sistêmica e humanizada. Assim sendo, o psicólogo escolar deve se posicionar para promover ambientes escolares mais saudáveis e seguros. A atuação deve ir além do tratamento de traumas gerados pela violência escolar, trabalhando na criação de um ambiente que previna o surgimento de novas situações de conflito.
