ATENDIMENTO ODONTOLÓGICO EM CRIANÇAS COM TRANSTORNO DO ESPECTRO AUTISTA

O atendimento odontológico em crianças com transtorno do espectro autista é desafiador para os profissionais da área da saúde principalmente para os cirurgiões dentistas. Existem alguns estudos que comprovam que crianças com transtorno do espectro autista possuem pré-disposição para a doença cárie, periodontal entre inúmeras doenças bucais que podem aparecer nestes pacientes. Além destes fatores citados é importante para a qualidade de vida deste paciente um bom atendimento odontológico trazendo conforto e qualidade, já que o atendimento precisa ser um pouco mais cauteloso e com manejos corretos para cada grau de complexidade do transtorno do espectro autista. Este trabalho teve como objetivo relatar as principais dificuldades no atendimento destas crianças, e a dificuldade de abordagem do cirurgião dentista no atendimento às crianças com transtorno do espectro autista. Para isso foi realizada uma revisão de literatura através da utilização de livros e de artigos em língua portuguesa e inglesa hospedados em bases de dados como o PubMed, Google Acadêmico e Scielo utilizando as palavras-chave transtorno do espectro autista, assistência odontológica e autismo. Conclui-se que é importante o conhecimento de abordagens adequadas no atendimento odontológico em pacientes com transtorno do espectro autista, para proporcionar um atendimento com qualidade e com segurança.
