ESTUDO DA ETNOMATEMÁTICA: A importância do conhecimento empírico no cotidiano dos feirantes da Feira Livre de Teixeira de Freitas- Bahia
Abstract
O presente trabalho consiste em um estudo sobre o conhecimento matemático presente na feira livre da cidade de Teixeira de Freitas-BA. O objetivo principal desta pesquisa é investigar os conteúdos matemáticos utilizados pelos feirantes em suas atividades laborativas, a fim de compreender a Etnomatemática e o conhecimento empírico presentes nesse ambiente. Para coletar os dados necessários, foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com quatro feirantes do município de Teixeira de Freitas. Vale ressaltar que o número reduzido de participantes foi resultado das restrições impostas pelo período de isolamento decorrente da pandemia do Novo Coronavírus, que limitou o acesso aos entrevistados. Durante o estudo, identificamos distintos conteúdos matemáticos de grande relevância para o cotidiano dos feirantes, tais como as operações fundamentais (adição, subtração, multiplicação e divisão), estatística, porcentagem e sistema de números decimais, entre outros. A prática da Etnomatemática nas feiras ressalta a importância de reconhecer e valorizar os conhecimentos matemáticos presentes em diferentes culturas e contextos sociais. Os feirantes entrevistados demonstraram uma compreensão inata e natural desses conceitos matemáticos, aplicando-os de forma eficiente em suas atividades diárias, independentemente de seu nível de escolaridade.
