Atualmente a construção civil no Brasil passa por um momento de mudanças e adaptações. Para tal, são adotados formas e métodos distintos em busca da otimização da produtividade, do custo e reduzir o desperdício. Em busca da melhor opção para a construção de casas populares térreas em Teófilo Otoni.O presente artigo busca comparar a construção das mesmas em alvenaria convencional e em alvenaria estrutural a partir de um projeto base, um levantamento a partir dele e da captação de dados do mercado da construção na cidade e assim analisar e chegar à conclusão de, com base nos dados levantados e obtidos, qual dos modelos construtivos seria mais viável. Tal comparação e análise se faz clara ao final deste artigo que, com base em toda a informação levantada, mostra a viabilidade do modelo construtivo em alvenaria estrutural expondo suas vantagens, desvantagens e custos em relação ao modelo construtivo de alvenaria convencional.
