This article aims to analyze the impacts of euthanasia on medical practice, considering its ethical, legal, and psychological implications, especially with regard to the right to a dignified death and the patient’s private autonomy within the Brazilian context. To this end, a bibliographic and qualitative method was adopted, based on the analysis of national legislation, normative bills, specialized legal doctrine in medical law and bioethics, as well as foreign experiences related to the regulation of euthanasia. The results indicate the absence of specific regulation within the Brazilian legal system, which contributes to legal uncertainty for health professionals and patients and intensifies the conflict between fundamental principles such as human dignity, autonomy of will, and the right to life. It is concluded that the debate on euthanasia in Brazil requires greater normative and legal development, with the formulation of guidelines capable of promoting a balance between the protection of life, respect for patient autonomy, and legal certainty in medical practice.
