Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by impairments in communication and social interaction, as well as restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior, which may affect child development, family dynamics, and quality of life. In this context, nurses hold a relevant position in health services, especially through their role in monitoring growth and development, welcoming and supporting families, and coordinating care within the health network. This study aimed to investigate the role of nurses in promoting the quality of life of children with ASD. This is an exploratory narrative literature review conducted in SciELO, the Virtual Health Library, and Google Scholar, using the descriptors “Autism Spectrum Disorder”, “Nursing”, and “Quality of Life”, combined with Boolean operators. Full-text articles published between 2016 and 2026, in Portuguese or with translation available into Portuguese, addressing nursing care for children with ASD were included. In total, 10 articles composed the analysis. The findings indicate that nurses may contribute to the quality of life of children with ASD through the early identification of signs of the disorder, humanized care, qualified listening, family guidance, strengthening of family bonds, and organization of care. Weaknesses were also identified regarding professional training, the lack of specific qualification, and the need for greater scientific production on nursing clinical practice in this field. It is concluded that nurses play an important role in the care of children with ASD and their families, provided that their practice is grounded in technical and scientific knowledge, ethical sensitivity, appropriate communication, and multiprofessional integration.
