Abstract

Skin aging, determined by the convergence of intrinsic and extrinsic factors, promotes

progressive structural alterations in the dermis, particularly the fragmentation of collagen fibers. reduced tissue hydration, and the emergence of dyschromia. In this context, minimally invasive procedures with regenerative potential have gained increasing prominence in aesthetic biomedicine, among which microneedling, a percutancous collagen induction technique using needles (PCIT), and polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN), a salmon-derived biopolymer with proven biostimulatory activity mediated via the adenosine A2A receptor, stand out. The present study aimed to analyze the available scientific evidence regarding the association between these two approaches in aesthetic applications, characterizing their mechanisms of action and evaluating the clinical outcomes reported in the domains of neocollagenesis, skin hydration, texture uniformity, and reduction of dyschromia. This study consists of a narrative literature review, with a non-systematic search conducted in the PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, LILACS

Scopus, and Google Scholar databases, organizing the findings into three thematic areas corresponding to the specific objectives. The results demonstrated that the association between microneedling and PDRN produces superior clinical outcomes compared to the isolated use of each technique, supported by a biologically grounded synergy based on the enhanced transdermal delivery of PDRN through the microchannels created by microneedling. It is concluded that the combined therapy represents a promising and clinically relevant strategy; however, studies with greater methodological rigor are necessary to establish standardized protocols.
