CEPELS AND LEISURE AND MOVEMENT PRACTICES DURING SCHOOL RECESS: A PEDAGOGICAL EXPERIENCE FROM 1ST TO 5TH GRADE

This article presents an experience report linked to the actions of Center for Training, Extension, Innovation, and Research in Education, Leisure, and Health (CEPELS), which seeks to understand leisure as a powerful pedagogical tool. The experience took place during a curricular internship in Physical Education at the Francisco Martins Boleto Municipal School, covering 1st to 5th-grade classes between September 15 and October 17. With interventions carried out twice a week during school recess, the project prioritized socialization and motor development through cooperative games, popular play, circuits, and dance. The activities also included experiences inspired by martial arts (non-contact) and perception games, resulting in enthusiastic participation from the children. Ultimately, the experience enabled the improvement of essential competencies, such as class management and activity adaptation, reinforcing the role of leisure within the school context.
