ANALYSIS OF RESEARCH TRENDS ON INDIGENOUS LEISURE: THE PERSPECTIVE OF CEPELS IN THE NATIONAL CONTEXT

This article, developed as a literature review associated with a study based on state-of-the-art research procedures, addresses the appreciation of indigenous leisure as a pathway for the preservation and resistance of the cultures of indigenous ethnic groups in Brazil. The main objective of the study was to examine research trends on the subject in the country, aiming to understand how the appreciation and recognition of the legitimacy of indigenous leisure contribute to cultural preservation and resistance in the face of globalization processes and the impositions of the capitalist system. It is based on the assumption that leisure, as a cultural manifestation, constitutes a socially and historically constructed element, which, in the indigenous context, is shaped by specific knowledge, practices, and meanings that are closely related to traditional ways of life. Methodologically, the study is characterized as a narrative literature review, combined with a survey structured as a state-of-knowledge study, with a time frame from 2016 to 2026, seeking to identify trends, approaches, and contributions of scientific production on the topic. The results indicate that indigenous leisure, still underrecognized in academic fields and public policies, has strong potential as a tool for identity valorization, maintenance of ancestral knowledge, and resistance to cultural homogenization dynamics imposed by globalization. Thus, it is concluded that the recognition and encouragement of indigenous leisure practices constitute fundamental strategies for cultural preservation and the strengthening of ethnic identities in Brazil.
