UM ESTUDO SOBRE A SOBRECARGA EM CUIDADORES DE IDOSOS COM DEMÊNCIA

Objetivo: Caracterizar o grau de sobrecarga dos cuidadores familiares de idosos com demência em um ambulatório de Geriatria. Fazer uma correlação entre a sobrecarga com as condições socioeconômicas do cuidador de maneira a identificar os fatores que possam ocasionar o excesso de sobrecarga. Método: Estudo de natureza quantitativa, prospectiva, transversal, do tipo descritiva. Realizado através de uma entrevista semiestruturada, com descrição de perfil socioeconômico, e da aplicação da Escala Reduzida de Sobrecarga Cuidador de Zarit, composta por 7 itens. Foram incluídos cuidadores informais de idosos com demência em um ambulatório de Geriatria, na cidade de Boa Vista, Roraima, durante 3 meses. Resultado: Foram identificados 23 cuidadores. Em relação à Escala de Zarit, 52% dos cuidadores apresentaram sobrecarga leve, 30% sobrecarga moderada e 17% sobrecarga grave. Observou-se correlação estatisticamente significante (p ≤ 0,05) nas variáveis sexo e número de pessoas por residência. Também foi observada predominância de cuidadores com algum grau de familiaridade com o idoso, com mais de 8 anos de escolaridade e tempo de prestação de cuidados de mais de 5 anos. Conclusão: O maior número de pessoas em domicílio, por ajudar na divisão dos cuidados do paciente com demência, pode contribuir com a diminuição da sobrecarga de cuidados. Além de cuidadoras femininas terem mais cultura do “cuidar”, do que homens. Mais estudos são necessários para ampliar mais dados que possam estar correlacionados.
