Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a condition of glucose intolerance that arises during pregnancy, posing significant risks to both mother and fetus. This study analyzes the risk factors and complications associated with GDM, as well as the role of the pharmacist in its management. Systematic reviews and clinical trials show that pharmaceutical intervention is effective in glycemic control, reducing maternal-fetal complications, and improving the quality of life for pregnant women. However, the implementation of these programs faces significant challenges, including lack of resources, inadequate training, and cultural and socioeconomic barriers. Strategies such as continuous pharmacist training, inclusive public policies, and the use of health technologies are proposed to overcome these obstacles and improve health outcomes.
