Municipal markets are essential for small producers, playing a fundamental role in the commercialization of products from family farming, which have these markets as their main sales venues. This happens because the markets are accessible, have a large daily flow of people, and are located in the most populous areas of the capital. This study was conducted in the district of Palmas (TO), between December 2024 and February 2025, with the objective of addressing the reality of these traders and understanding how local vendors participate in the commercialization process. A total of 42 interviews were conducted with vendors from six municipal markets, aiming to identify their characteristics, the products they sell, and the difficulties they face. The study shows that most vendors are between 41 and 60 years old, with a significant presence of women. However, many of these vendors do not only sell products they grow and rely on external suppliers to complement their offerings. A critical point identified was financial management, as many vendors lack the necessary knowledge to effectively manage their businesses. Challenges such as the lack of infrastructure in the markets and the bureaucracy in joining government support programs were also highlighted. The research suggests that investments in financial training for vendors and greater institutional support could improve the sustainability of the markets.
