This article investigates the use of fairy tales as a pedagogical tool for the development of emotional skills in childhood. The research was conducted with Early Childhood Education teachers from the municipalities of Sooretama and Linhares (ES) and aimed to analyze how these stories contribute to the socio-emotional development of children. The results showed that most teachers recognize the importance of fairy tales in strengthening empathy, self-esteem, and helping children deal with emotions such as fear and frustration. The narratives are also seen as effective for promoting self-knowledge and resolving emotional conflicts. The research indicated that, although fairy tales are widely used, there is still variation in their application. Teacher training on the use of these pedagogical resources is essential, and the BNCC reinforces the importance of socio-emotional teaching, suggesting that practices based on fairy tales should be more encouraged in schools.
