Resumen

Introduction: lactose intolerant people may experience significant nutritional disorders. Objective: to evaluate the nutritional status, energy and calcium intake of lactose intolerant people. Metodology: observational and descriptive study with 72 intolerant people over 18 years of age, of both sexes. Data collection took place with the help of a structured online form. Results: 13.9% are male and 86.1% are female. 81.9% aged between 18 and 35 years old. The majority are single (79.2%); 93% have completed or incomplete higher education. Regarding race, 73.6% declared themselves white; 16.7% were distributed among browns, blacks and yellows. Eutrophy was observed in 57%; 39% overweight or obese. Total energy and calcium intake were lower in males and females, in the age group between 19 and 30 years old according to the recommendation (p<0.001). The intake of proteins and carbohydrates was higher (p<0.001) in both sexes and ages between 19 and 30 years. Lipids were in accordance with recommendations for age and sex. For those aged between 31 and 50 years, energy and calcium intake were also below the recommended level (p<0.001) in females. Proteins were above recommended (p<0.008) and carbohydrates were slightly above (p=0.262). Lipids were as recommended. Furthermore, the same results were obtained in the age group between 51 and 70 years old. Conclusion: Most of the lactose-intolerant individuals involved in the study have adequate nutritional status, however, they present low energy and calcium intake.
