Research and Publication Ethics

The Multidisciplinary Journal of Northeast Minas Gerais (REMUNOM) adheres to the highest ethical standards in research and scientific publishing, committing to academic integrity, editorial transparency, and scientific responsibility.

REMUNOM follows and aligns with the guidelines and best practices of the following international organizations:

  • Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

  • International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)

  • Council of Science Editors (CSE)

Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors must:

  • Ensure the submitted work is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere

  • Declare conflicts of interest, financial or non-financial

  • Inform funding sources or explicitly declare the absence of funding

  • Ensure data, images, and tables were obtained ethically and legally

  • Obtain ethics committee approval when applicable (IRB, CEP, etc.)

Plagiarism and Scientific Misconduct

REMUNOM does not tolerate:

  • Plagiarism

  • Excessive self-plagiarism

  • Data fabrication or manipulation

  • Redundant submissions

All manuscripts undergo similarity checks prior to peer review.

Reviewers’ Responsibilities

Reviewers must:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality

  • Declare conflicts of interest

  • Conduct impartial, ethical, and constructive evaluations

  • Respect established deadlines

Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for:

  • Editorial decisions based solely on scientific merit

  • Ensuring a fair and transparent review process

  • Handling ethical complaints according to COPE guidelines
