Resumen

Introducción: La obra Bioética para profesionales de la salud, de Rego, Palácios y Siqueira-Batista (2009), presenta una introducción crítica a la bioética, con foco en la formación ética de profesionales y estudiantes del área de la salud. Los autores proponen un enfoque ampliado y situado de la bioética, articulando teoría y práctica frente a los dilemas morales que emergen en contextos clínicos y colectivos. Desarrollo: El libro recorre el surgimiento histórico de la bioética, destacando hitos como el pensamiento de Potter y los códigos posteriores a la Segunda Guerra Mundial. A continuación se presentan las principales corrientes teóricas (principialismo, bioética de la protección, utilitarismo, casuística y ética de la virtud) aplicadas a casos específicos. La obra también discute la relación entre la salud clínica y pública y los dilemas éticos al inicio y al final de la vida, como el aborto y la ortotanasia, defendiendo siempre el respeto a la autonomía y la dignidad humana. Conclusión: La obra constituye una referencia fundamental para docentes e investigadores en bioética, ya que propone una ética crítica, dialógica y comprometida con la justicia social. Es una lectura esencial para quienes buscan comprender los fundamentos éticos de las prácticas de salud en Brasil.
