Education is a basic principle for living in society, just as environmental education is necessary for the wisdom of living in a healthy and harmonious environment. The consumer society, with each passing day, has been injecting into nature the difficult task of providing it with what it needs to live, at the same time imposing on this same nature the difficult task of maintaining its climax. Based on this assumption, this article aims to discuss the depreciation of environmental education in the consumer society, highlighting its full importance for a society in environmental crisis. The methodology used in the research was phenomenological, which starts from the subjective awareness of the present researchers regarding the growing environmental impact present in Povoado Ponta dos Mangues, located in the Municipality of Pacatuba. Although the area is part of a Conservation Unit, with a strong attraction for the entertainment of nearby families and tourists, there is a lack of supervision and Environmental Education by its users, demonstrating that the latter must exist and persist in all areas of society, whether in formal or informal education, so that spaces like these can be experienced by future generations.
