HISTORICAL AND LEGAL ASPECTS OF VIOLENCE IN BIRTH: PERSPECTIVES ON BRAZILIAN REALITY AND THE ROLE OF LAW IN PROTECTING WOMEN

A violência obstétrica abrange práticas abusivas e desumanas perpetradas por profissionais de saúde durante o atendimento à gestante, caracterizando-se pela apropriação indevida do corpo feminino e dos processos reprodutivos. Essas condutas incluem intervenções médicas desnecessárias, a medicalização excessiva de processos naturais do parto e o desrespeito à autonomia da mulher, resultando não apenas na violação de sua dignidade, mas também no comprometimento de sua integridade física e psicológica. Trata-se de uma grave violação dos direitos humanos, além de representar um desafio significativo para a saúde pública e a garantia dos direitos reprodutivos.
