Abstract

Objective: To identify nursing care in the care of women with postpartum depression. Method: This is an integrative literature review, which used the following databases: Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library (VHL), which included: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and Nursing Database (BDENF). In addition to the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), US National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health (PUBMED) and Google Scholar, from January to November 2024. Results: A total of 574 study articles were found and, after reading and analysis, fourteen articles were retrieved to support this work. This integrative review pointed out three thematic categories found in the selected articles: (a) Screening scale for postpartum depression; (b) Risk factors for triggering postpartum depression; (c) Role of Nursing in the mental health of postpartum women. Conclusion: The pregnancy-puerperal cycle increases vulnerability to postpartum depression, affecting women's mental and physical health and the mother-child bond. Early diagnosis and an individualized approach are essential to prevent complications. Specialized nursing care is essential to promote maternal-fetal health and well-being.
