SAH (systemic arterial hypertension) is defined by high levels of blood pressure in the
arteries, characterized by a systolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 140mmHg and a
diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 90 mmHg. SAH (systemic arterial hypertension) is
a chronic and multifactorial disease that is often detected late due to its slow and silent evolution,
which directly affects the quality of life of patients, in addition, it contributes to the development of
cardiovascular diseases. In this context, the methodology of this work was to compile and analyze
data from DATASUS. And the objective of this article was to carry out an assessment of the profile
of primary hypertensive patients in the State of Paraná in the year 2023, which took into account
age group, sex, type of hospitalization (elective or emergency) and the most common risk factors
associated to this pathology. After analyzing the data, it was noticed that there was an increase in
the rate of primary hypertensive patients in Paraná in the year 2023, as well as throughout the
country, the prevalence of the pathology in females and the increase in emergency care in the
period analyzed. Therefore, it is extremely important to raise awareness about primary prophylaxis,
such as physical exercise and nutritional quality, and pharmacological treatment.
