Domestic violence against women is a public health problem influenced by social, economic, behavioral, and family factors. This study described the sociodemographic, economic, behavioral characteristics, and history of family violence of 66 women monitored by the Electronic Prisoner Monitoring Center in Sergipe, in 2025. This is an observational, cross-sectional, quantitative study in which data were collected using a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers, covering information on race/color, marital status, education, occupation, income, lifestyle habits, stress self-control, and experiences of family violence. The results showed a predominance of brown and black women, single, with medium to low education, most without paid work and with a monthly income of up to one minimum wage, indicating socioeconomic vulnerability. 54,5% reported alcohol consumption, 56,1% reported difficulties in managing stress, and 12,1% reported smoking. About half of the participants witnessed domestic violence and 26,2% experienced violence in the childhood of a family member. Domestic violence occurred mainly during marriage or stable union, but also in other family contexts. The findings suggest that domestic violence is multifactorial, associating socioeconomic vulnerabilities, history of family violence, and inadequate coping strategies. There is a clear need for public policies and integrated interventions that promote autonomy, emotional support, and access to protection networks. Furthermore, there is evidence of the importance of new studies with larger and more diverse samples to investigate risk factors, coping strategies, and protection mechanisms, contributing to the development of more effective preventive and care actions.
