This study analyzes the socioeconomic impacts and subjective effects of flooding in the Santo Antônio neighborhood, in Humaitá (AM), a region characterized by high socio-environmental vulnerability due to the fluvial dynamics of the Madeira River and the occupation of floodplain areas. The methodology consisted of applying structured questionnaires to 50 residents affected by floods between 2024 and 2025. The results revealed that 72% of participants expressed a desire to migrate, while 28% remained in the territory due to affective ties, community solidarity networks, and the lack of viable alternatives. Statistical analysis showed no significant correlation (ρ = −0.037; p = 0.798) between length of residence and intention to move, indicating that subjective and structural factors have greater predictive weight than temporal variables. Additionally, 86% of participants self-identified as mixed-race (pardo), reflecting the intersection of race, class, and differential exposure to risks, thus configuring a scenario of environmental injustice in the Southern Amazon. It is concluded that risk management in the region requires public policies that integrate subjective perceptions of lived experiences with efforts to address historical inequalities shaping the territory.
