The increasing consumption of anxiolytics by young people has raised serious concerns regarding the legal and ethical aspects involved. This article will address the topic, analyzing the main trends and factors that point to an increase in the use of anxiolytics among the young population. Furthermore, it explores the legal and ethical challenges faced by health professionals, educators and legislators in light of these characteristics. The discussion on legal and ethical aspects highlights the need for stricter regulations for access to anxiolytics, the importance of mental health education in schools and the responsibility of health professionals in evaluating and appropriately prescribing these medications. In short, it will emphasize the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to dealing with the increase in the consumption of anxiolytics among young people, considering not only the legal and ethical aspects, but also the social, psychological and educational factors that affect this aspect. Awareness, education and collaboration between different stakeholders are essential to effectively address this complex and concerning issue.
