Introduction: Hip fractures in the elderly are a frequent and serious condition, associated with loss of functional independence and increased morbidity and mortality. Physiotherapy plays an essential role in this process, contributing to recovery and preventing complications resulting from prolonged immobilization. Objective: To analyze the importance of physiotherapy rehabilitation in the recovery process of elderly patients with hip fractures, considering the physiotherapist's role in the pre- and post-operative periods. Methodology: This is a descriptive and qualitative literature review, based on national and international scientific articles that address physiotherapy rehabilitation in elderly patients with hip fractures. Results: Studies demonstrate that physiotherapy promotes improved muscle strength, balance, and functional mobility, favoring a return to activities of daily living. Early mobilization stands out as an essential factor for effective rehabilitation and for reducing the risk of new falls. Conclusion: Physiotherapy is indispensable in the recovery of elderly patients with femur fractures, and the adoption of individualized protocols and a multidisciplinary approach are fundamental to restoring autonomy and quality of life.
