ENTRE LAÇOS E SAPATILHAS: Dança clássica para crianças em situação de vulnerabilidade social e econômica

Introduction: Ballet taught through pedagogical practices and/or as a playful teaching methodology provides meaningful experiences for children who, under other circumstances, would not have the opportunity to experience them. Objectives: The general objective was to provide access to classical ballet for children in situations of social and economic vulnerability, promoting social equality and artistic-cultural experiences. Specifically, it aims to expand the body repertoire, bring children closer to the art of dance and classical music, and incorporate playfulness as a strategy for learning ballet. .Methodology: Extension project publicized between March 17 and 21 through WhatsApp messages to the families of children from a public school in Alegrete, RS. After a meeting with the guardians, 12 girls aged 7 to 10 were enrolled. Classes started on April 2, taking place weekly on Wednesdays from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Each class was divided into three twenty-minute segments: warm-up, focusing on initial focus on the floor for body awareness; exercises at the barre to work on strength, balance, flexibility, and posture; center: more complex movements, ending with games for interaction. Results: It was observed that bonds and greater affection were created between the children and between the children and the teacher, along with greater body awareness, as well as the importance of playfulness as a strategy for stimulating children.. Conclusion: The dance project provided the girls with moments to learn new skills while also promoting immersion in a previously unknown playful universe. The fact that no boys registered is noteworthy and deserves study, which in a city on the western border of the state may be related to preconceptions and prejudices about ballet.
