POTENCIAL FITOTERÁPICO DO CRAVO-DE-DEFUNTO (TAGETES SPP.) E SUAS APLICAÇÕES EM NANOTECNOLOGIA: UM ESTUDO DE REVISÃO

O cravo-de-defunto Tagetes spp. é uma planta de ampla distribuição geográfica, pertencente à família Asteraceae, reconhecida tanto pelo valor ornamental quanto pelo potencial fitoterápico. Estudos indicam que seus extratos concentram metabólitos secundários, como flavonoides, carotenoides, terpenos e óleos essenciais, associados a múltiplas atividades biológicas. Entre as principais ações descritas na literatura destacam-se efeitos antimicrobianos, antifúngicos, antiparasitários, antioxidantes e anti-inflamatórios, o que sustenta seu uso tradicional e impulsiona investigações farmacológicas contemporâneas. No contexto das nanotecnologias, Tagetes spp. vêm sendo explorada como fonte natural para a síntese verde de nanopartículas metálicas e poliméricas por rotas ambientalmente sustentáveis. Evidências recentes apontam que nanopartículas de prata, ouro, zinco e óxidos metálicos obtidas a partir de extratos vegetais podem apresentar maior estabilidade e potencialização de propriedades bioativas, especialmente no controle microbiano, quando comparadas a formas convencionais. Essas nanopartículas têm aplicações promissoras em sistemas de liberação controlada de fármacos, cosméticos com finalidade antioxidante, embalagens biodegradáveis com ação antimicrobiana e alternativas para manejo agrícola. Apesar dos avanços, permanecem desafios relacionados à padronização de métodos de extração, à caracterização dos compostos ativos e à avaliação toxicológica em modelos pré-clínicos e humanos. Assim, este artigo realiza uma revisão crítica sobre Tagetes spp., abordando sua fitoquímica, efeitos terapêuticos e aplicações emergentes na nanotecnologia verde, além de indicar lacunas e perspectivas para pesquisas futuras.
