The cosmetic sector has shown significant growth in recent years, with emphasis on acids used as active ingredients in cosmetic formulations. However, the use of these actives without proper professional guidance may cause relevant adverse skin reactions. In this context, the development of educational strategies becomes necessary. Thus, the objective is to develop a guidance manual for the safe use of keratolytic agents in cosmetics intended for home care, based on scientific evidence. This is a methodological study of a qualitative nature, based on bibliographic research. The material selection was carried out in scientific databases, focusing on the main keratolytic agents used in cosmetic formulations, including alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acids, polyhydroxy acids, and retinol. Their chemical characteristics, indications, safe concentrations, and potential adverse effects were analyzed. Based on this information, a manual was developed using accessible, objective, and educational language, aimed at the general public. The material was designed in digital format (e-book) using the Figma tool, including illustrations produced on the Illustrae platform, in order to facilitate understanding and increase reader engagement. The final manual consists of 16 pages, organized into thematic chapters, under the title “Your routine with acids: fewer trends, more science!”. Evidence from the literature highlights that structured educational materials are effective tools in promoting safe practices and preventing health damage. In addition, studies indicate that well-designed educational resources favor knowledge acquisition and individual autonomy in health care. The developed manual gathers recommendations based on scientific evidence in a clear and didactic manner, contributing to the understanding and safe use of keratolytic agents in home care. Thus, it is configured as a relevant tool for health education, helping to reduce risks associated with the improper use of cosmetics.
