Paracetamol is widely used as an analgesic and antipyretic due to its effectiveness and low cost. However, indiscriminate use or administration in doses above the recommended levels can result in hepatotoxicity, being one of the leading causes of acute liver failure. In this context, this study aims to analyze the epidemiological profile of acute paracetamol intoxications in the state of Piauí, from 2020 to 2025. This is an epidemiological, retrospective, descriptive, and quantitative study, carried out through the collection of secondary data from the Health Informatics Department of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). It is expected that the obtained data will help understand the regional overdose scenario, identifying the most vulnerable populations and the reported clinical outcomes, as well as highlighting the importance of N-acetylcysteine as an antidote therapy. Thus, it seeks to support the formulation of health policies and preventive actions aimed at the rational and safe use of medicines.
