Patrimônio histórico consiste num bem material, natural ou imóvel que possui significado e importância artística, cultural, religiosa, documental ou estética para a sociedade. O presente trabalho almeja realizar uma análise qualitativa da estrutura de algumas edificações que compõem o traçado urbano e arquitetura da cidade de Pelotas, no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul.A partir das considerações concluímos que a análise qualitativa realmente se evidencia útil e importante para a emissão de pareceres, contudo a amplitude do seu uso se restringe a apenas aqueles casos em que os aspectos das edificações são nitidamente robustos. Nas demais situações notamos a necessidade da realização da análise in situ, assim como o recurso a métodos de monitorização quantitativos, como a caracterização dos materiais e o emprego da desratização por elementos finitos.
