IMPACTOS AMBIENTAIS NA DESTINAÇÃO IRREGULAR DE RESÍDUOS SÓLIDOS NA REDE HIDROGRÁFICA DO RIO MUATALA – CIDADE DE NAMPULA

A poluição ambiental das águas está entre os maiores problemas ambientais resultantes do crescimento populacional, urbanização e sobretudo, pelo ineficiente sistema de gestão de resíduos sólidos urbanos (GRSU) nos maiores centros urbanos, constituindo, um problema socioeconômico e ambiental. Assim sendo, foi realizada uma pesquisa descritiva, sustentada pela observação e questionário com objetivo de descrever os impactos socioambientais da deposição de resíduos na rede hidrográfica do rio Muatala. Foram identificados vários focos de deposição irregular de RSU na rede hidrográfica, contendo resíduos perigosos, gerando insegurança ao meio ambiente, problemas socioeconômicos e para a saúde pública. Estas situações podem ser revertidas a partir da educação ambiental e GRSU de forma eficiente e sustentável. Conclui-se que a disposição irregular de resíduos sólidos na rede hidrográfica do rio Muatala é uma prática evitável e as famílias podem ser rentabilizadas.
