Abstract

Objetivo: Identificar o perfil dos óbitos causados pela COVID-19 em idosos no estado de Sergipe. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo de coorte retrospectivo, com abordagem quantitativa do número de óbitos registrados por COVID-19 no estado de Sergipe, com dados utilizados no período de março de 2020 a março de 2021. Resultados: ocorreu prevalência de óbitos em idosos com faixa etária de 70 a 79 anos (34,51%), do sexo masculino (56,25%), que apresentavam hipertensão (44,50%) e diabetes (37,10%) e 38,82% residiam na capital. Associações significativas (p<0,05) foram observadas entre a presença ou ausência de comorbidades e sexo e local de residência. Conclusão: Diante do exposto, concluímos que é necessária a implementação de políticas públicas para obtenção de recursos para a vacinação dessa faixa etária, pois com a imunização há uma tendência de diminuir a probabilidade da forma mais grave da doença, reduzindo assim a número de mortes.
