A tecnologia Blockchain é uma inovação em desenvolvimento há mais de uma década, mas muitas pessoas ainda não compreendem sua amplitude de aplicação e suas possibilidades para diversos setores. A tecnologia Blockchain, inicialmente utilizada para o mercado financeiro, tem sido explorada em diversas áreas, incluindo a construção civil. O setor da construção, tradicionalmente lento na adoção de novas tecnologias, está começando a reconhecer o potencial do Blockchain para gerenciar de forma mais eficiente seus processos e projetos. Neste artigo, será discutido o potencial do Blockchain e dos contratos inteligentes para o gerenciamento de processos e projetos de construção, bem como descrição de casos de uso e dos desafios a serem superados para a implementação bem-sucedida dessa tecnologia na construção civil 4.0.
