PIOMETRA FECHADA EM CADELA DA RAÇA SPITZ ALEMÃO: RELATO DE CASO CLÍNICO E DISCUSSÃO CIRÚRGICA

Este estudo descreve um caso clínico de piometra fechada em uma cadela idosa da raça Spitz Alemão, previamente utilizada para reprodução. A paciente apresentava letargia, distensão abdominal, febre, polidipsia e anorexia. O diagnóstico foi baseado em exame físico, ultrassonografia abdominal e exames laboratoriais, que indicaram leucocitose, neutrofilia e disfunção renal aguda. O tratamento instituído foi a ováriosalpingohisterectomia (OSH), porém o animal evoluiu a óbito no pós-operatório, mesmo após suporte clínico adequado. O caso destaca a necessidade do diagnóstico precoce e da castração preventiva em fêmeas não destinadas à reprodução, especialmente na senilidade.
