Perigos e dilemas do uso indiscriminado de agonistas de GLP‑1 para emagrecimento estética

O uso indiscriminado de agonistas de GLP‑1, como semaglutida e liraglutida, para emagrecimento estético, sem supervisão médica, tem gerado preocupações entre profissionais de saúde. Embora eficazes na redução de peso, esses medicamentos podem causar efeitos adversos, como náuseas, vômitos, diarreia e constipação. Além disso, há risco aumentado de complicações mais graves, como pancreatite, gastroparesia e obstrução intestinal. A perda de massa muscular também é uma preocupação, especialmente em indivíduos que não mantêm uma alimentação adequada e prática de exercícios. O uso sem orientação médica pode levar a automedicação inadequada, aumentando os riscos de efeitos colaterais. A escassez desses medicamentos, devido ao uso não autorizado, dificulta o acesso de pacientes que realmente necessitam. Além disso, campanhas publicitárias que promovem esses medicamentos para fins estéticos podem reforçar padrões corporais prejudiciais e estigmatizar corpos fora do padrão. É essencial que o uso de agonistas de GLP‑1 seja restrito a indicações médicas e acompanhado por profissionais de saúde para garantir a segurança e eficácia do tratamento.
