ENDODONCIA Y COMPLICACIONES: COMPRENSIÓN DE LOS ACCIDENTES Y OPTIMIZACIÓN DEL PROGNÓSTICO

El objetivo del presente estudio fue informar sobre los accidentes ocurridos durante o después del tratamiento endodóntico, mediante una revisión sistemática de la literatura, con el fin de presentar los accidentes y complicaciones más comunes en este ámbito, además de evidenciar el protocolo que debe seguirse en caso de que se produzcan. Se realizó una revisión sistemática de la literatura utilizando las siguientes bases de datos: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS) y PubMed, con el fin de reunir la literatura internacional publicada entre 2021 y 2025. Tras una selección en dos etapas, solo nueve (09) artículos de revistas revisadas por pares fueron relevantes y se incluyeron en la revisión. Las complicaciones endodónticas representan retos significativos en la práctica clínica, ya que afectan al éxito del tratamiento y a la salud bucodental de los pacientes. Se observa que las complicaciones en endodoncia son multifacéticas y pueden ocurrir en cualquier etapa del tratamiento, desde el acceso hasta el período posoperatorio. La prevención, el diagnóstico precoz y el manejo adecuado de estas complicaciones son cruciales para el éxito del tratamiento y el mantenimiento de la salud bucodental del paciente. La actualización constante y la mejora de las habilidades clínicas son imperativas para el endodoncista que busca ofrecer la mejor atención posible. La comprensión detallada de cada complicación, incluyendo sus causas, manifestaciones clínicas y enfoques terapéuticos, es fundamental para mitigar el riesgo de fracaso del tratamiento y garantizar la longevidad del elemento dental.
