DESENVOLVIMENTO INDUSTRIAL DE IMPERATRIZ-MA

O objetivo principal desse artigo é compreender o processo de industrialização da cidade de Imperatriz no estado do Maranhão desde sua fundação até 2019. O início do processo histórico de formação econômica de Imperatriz foi baseado em ciclos econômicos. Contudo, desde o final desse mesmo século alguns empreendimentos industriais começaram a ser instalados na cidade, assim em 2008 tem-se a instalação da Suzano Papel e Celulose. Metodologicamente foi feita uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa. Utilizou-se como base entrevistas e pesquisas bibliográficas exploratórias. Nesse sentido, os resultados obtidos mostram que o quantitativo de indústrias em Imperatriz após instalação da fábrica Suzano de Papel e Celulose tem um crescimento tímido, no que diz respeito a população ocupada também a um crescimento no período de implantação dessa indústria que decresce justamente no período de efetivação das atividades da indústria, nesse sentido essa indústria tem se consolidado com um perfil de indústria voltado somente para acumulação financeira sem ter uma preocupação real para com a população local no qual foca nas contratações de profissionais, principalmente qualificados, de fora da cidade de Imperatriz.
