NOSOLOGICAL PROFILE OF DERMATOSES IN FEMALE PATIENTS FROM PRIMARY CARE IN GOVERNADOR VALADARES

Abstract

Dermatological diseases affect 1.9 billion people in the world and are considered a major public health problem, especially in primary health care (PHC). The skin, in addition to presenting its own diseases, is an important site of cutaneous manifestation of systemic disease and this understanding is essential to prevent inappropriate diagnosis and treatment. The main objective of this study was to describe the main dermatoses found in female patients in Primary Care in Governador Valadares. To this end, a cross-sectional study was carried out with 48 women referred for dermatological evaluation at a Basic Health Unit. The diagnosis was clinical, with skin biopsy in six cases (12.5%) for confirmation. 29 distinct conditions were identified. The most frequent were seborrheic keratosis (12.5%), allergic contact dermatitis (8.3%), acne and psoriasis (6.3% each). The profile showed great diversity, with the presence of neoplasms (benign and malignant), infectious diseases (such as leprosy and sporotrichosis) and chronic inflammatory diseases. It is concluded that the dermatological spectrum in PHC is broad and complex, requiring professionals to be suspicious of common, rare, and potentially serious conditions. Knowledge of this profile is essential for an assertive approach, careful referral, and effective management at the system's gateway.
