The oil content in soybeans is one of the main traits of economic interest, directly influencing the industrial quality and added value of the crop. However, this quantitative trait is strongly influenced by the genotype x environment (GxE) interaction, making it difficult to select superior cultivars, especially under variable soil and climate conditions, such as those in the state of Tocantins. Thus, studies of adaptability and stability are essential for identifying genotypes with predictable and consistent performance. The objective of this study was to evaluate the adaptability and stability of oil content in soybean cultivars subjected to different planting seasons in the central region of Tocantins. Six cultivar competition trials were conducted during the 2023/24 and 2024/25 growing seasons, using a randomized block design with three replications. The environments consisted of different planting times, with each trial considered a distinct environment. Oil content was determined using the Soxhlet method after harvest at the R8 stage. Statistical analyses included combined analysis of variance, the Scott-Knott grouping test, and the method of Eberhart and Russell (1966) for adaptability and stability. The GxA interaction was significant, evidencing differential behavior of the cultivars in response to environmental variations. The complex fraction of the interaction predominated, indicating difficulty in selecting materials with broad adaptability. The cultivars DM 82i78 IPRO, M8644 IPRO, NEO 790 IPRO, and SOY AMPLA IPRO showed adaptation to favorable environments, while DM 79i81 IPRO, EXTREMA IPRO, FORTALEZA IPRO, OLIMPO IPRO, and SOY COMBATE IPRO stood out in unfavorable environments. It is concluded that the growing environment exerts a strong influence on oil accumulation, and that the methods used were effective in identifying cultivars with greater yield predictability and potential for recommendation during different planting seasons for the low-latitude region of Tocantins.
