Early diagnosis is essential to allow early interventions, favoring the improvement of the clinical condition and the individual's development. In addition to pharmacological approaches, behavioral, occupational and speech therapies also play a fundamental role in the treatment of ASD. Despite the absence of effective medications for the core symptoms of autism, some drugs have been used to help patients face challenges and improve their quality of life. It is essential that there is multidisciplinary monitoring to ensure personalized and safe treatment, involving a multidisciplinary team, combining behavioral, occupational and speech therapies, with the appropriate use of medications when necessary. The objective of this study is to identify treatments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that have the most evidence and effectiveness. Research was conducted using a bibliographic review based on the mentioned theme. However, research is still needed to investigate new pharmacological treatments and the development of specific medications for ASD, aiming to improve the quality of life and social inclusion of individuals.
